Tip: In Games and Practices, Focus on the Things That You Can Control

Picture
In games and practices, you'll be much more effective when you put your time and energy into the things you can control.  Don't worry about the things that are out of your control.

Things that you can control:
  • Attitude
  • Effort
  • Focus
  • Attention
  • Teamwork
  • Execution
  • Leadership
  • Reactions
  • Behaviors

Things you can't control:
  • Unforeseen errors
  • Refs
  • Fans
  • Opponents
  • The past
  • Bad luck

Stop worrying about the things you can't control and focus on the things you can control.  Use the mantra Fight ON! to keep you mentally strong during practices and games.

Self-reflection questions.
