Article: Everyone is Getting Better than Me
It seems like everyone is doing more than me and getting better than me. I feel so frustrated and stuck!
I was never raised to be envious, but I can swear that is exactly what I feel whenever I hear of a friend who just got hitched or has traveled out of the country or got a very lucrative job, basically anyone I know who is fulfilling purpose and living their dreams. I wonder how they get things done and how they come about being so successful at what they do. I wonder why I am stagnant and feel so stuck on a miserable life path.
At times, I feel so angry and ashamed of myself when these feelings come up, and I wonder why mine seems different. I ponder on why it feels like there is there is no circuit to turn on the light at the end of my tunnel.
These thoughts are crippling. My brain feels numb with a sensation of being pent-up and having entwined emotions that build up in my chest. Then I learned to trust in the power of music. I’d try to listen to some music in a bid to soothe my soul and relax my nerves, sometimes I drift off into a sound sleep, other times, I simply listen to the lyrics of the music playing until I take my mind off the issue causing me stress and focus on something else. The cycle continues.
This continued until I spoke with a counselor who told me to “find your passion.” As simple as this sound, it was a real challenge. Once overcome, everything else begins to make sense. In finding my passion, I dedicated time to a lot of thinking. We all think; some are productive thoughts, and several others are not. I learned to find passion be more productive with my thinking. Finding something that I was passionate about would help me find success.
I found a quiet and convenient place that motivates positive thinking. For me, it is a nature-inspired relaxation spot or the mountainsides.
The next strategy is to brainstorm. For me, this could take several minutes, hours, or even days before I hit the eureka moment. During my brainstorming session, I found a routine that could help:
• I found out what worked for me is to spend my free time on what I like to do. I have a top list of 3 favorite likeness.
• I spend my time reading up on the things I love and reading up on possible solutions about things that could improve my life.
• To be sure about my passion, I ask myself, “if you were offered an opportunity without pay to do that activity, would you do it?” Being able to answer “yes” shows my passion is valid.
• I would later learn to intern with people for free just to gain prominent knowledge about what mattered to me.
• I became obsessive about my passion; I spent hours reading up, learning, watching interviews, and videos from the pros in the field. It became apparent that the way to overcome my challenges is to go all in. This crazy obsession is the way to get the nightmares of failure out of my head.
When you get frustrated about your success, just relax and take a few deep breaths. Try to find your passion and focus on that. Keep going, never quit, and Fight ON!
